How it works

  1. Tap the countries you've been to, or let Places I've Visited fill in your map from your photo library. Photos are scanned on your iPhone and nothing is uploaded.
  2. Go deeper: mark US states and the regions of any country, drop pins on places and rate the vibe, the food and whether you'd go back, and log your flights and stays.
  3. Watch your world fill up. Every new country gets a passport stamp, you earn badges and a travel rank, and you can share cards, a year-in-travel story or a "Guess my countries" game with friends.

Who it's for

Travelers who want to track the countries they've visited on a travel map or scratch map; anyone counting US states visited or the regions of a country, like Japan's prefectures or Canada's provinces; people who keep a travel journal and a bucket list of places to go; frequent flyers who want their flights on the map; and anyone who wants travel stats and a shareable map of where they've been.

Privacy

Places I've Visited has no account and no sign-up, and it shows no ads. Your places, notes, photos and coordinates stay on your iPhone and in your own iCloud, not on a Places I've Visited server. Photos you add are stored with their location and camera details removed. Location access is optional and used on your iPhone. Purchases are handled by Apple, and Places I've Visited uses RevenueCat to confirm a Plus purchase. As its App Store privacy label states, the app may collect purchase data that isn't linked to your identity, and none of it is used to track you.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add the countries I've been to?

Tap a country on the map and it lights up, or drop a pin where you are. You can also fill your map from your photo library: the photos are scanned on your iPhone and nothing is uploaded.

Does it track US states and regions, not just countries?

Yes. It covers US states and the regions of 197 countries, such as Japan's prefectures and Canada's provinces. Your home country's regions are free; Places I've Visited Plus adds the regions of every country you visit.

Do I need an account?

No. There's no sign-up. Your map stays on your iPhone, and it syncs through your own iCloud if you use iCloud.

Does it track my location?

Only if you allow it. Location is used on your iPhone to drop a pin where you are and, if you turn on arrival stamps, to offer a passport stamp when you land in a new country. No location history is kept or sent anywhere.

What is "Guess my countries"?

It's a share card that hides your countries. Friends scan it or tap the link and play in their browser, no app needed, guessing which countries you've been to. The list of countries travels inside the link itself.

Is Places I've Visited free?

Yes. The map, your countries and your home country's regions are free forever. Places I've Visited Plus is available yearly with a 1-week free trial for eligible new subscribers, monthly, or as a one-time lifetime purchase.

Which devices does it work on?

iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later, with Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets.

Which languages is it available in?

English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Italian, Polish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese (Traditional), Hebrew and Arabic, plus UK English, Canadian French and Latin American Spanish.
